Good Friday...

Greetings!

Yes its Easter weekend. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. Pip is off down to his house in the South of France and 20 degrees of sun.....jealous? Ruddy right I am as we all freeze here. Having said that it's not been so bad. Cold yes but there's been some sun and no rain ....thank God.

The girls seem to be settling in....we've had a dozen or so eggs which is pretty good considering. They love snails....cant find enough of them. One chook is really quite friendly. The others are still a bit standoffish...but what the hell...they're chickens!

On the Plot front...rhubarb comming along nicely and onions are...well...onions.

In the greenhouse...peas and broad beans doing well. Leuttce , cabbage, sprouts, beets, flowers all comming up.

I put in two trays of dwarf and french beans some caullies and cucamellons and a coupple of other bits and pieces. It's all still a bit cold and so I'm not sowing outdoors yet. The season is obviously going to be very late this year and so I think it's wise to wait.

Keep on keeping on!

Feck....

....ing Barnicles!

Greetings!

Well what can I say....brilliant day Saturday. The girl's accomodation is finished. 5*. Check out Trip Advisor as I suspect our location is the place to be.

In the greenhouse things are sprouting aplenty and looking good.

Weather a bit wierd though.....Saturday we had rolling sea mist interspersed with sun. And we have 5 -10 cm of snow predicted for Monday! Blimy!

I just hope the 300 survive this last thrust of Winter. The rhubarb is quite advanced too so fingers crossed.

Keep on keeping on.

Oh and the girls are to be collected next Saurday.

Sunday....

.....Sunniness!

Greetings.

Jane...bless her, said I didn't have to do the Van today so I've been helping Pip  with the construction of the Run. So far so good....much digging, sawing, hammering and drilling etc. Looking good. Another weekends work or two and we'll be ready for the girls. So excited.

And when I've got a moment more sowing to be done.....

And the Sun came out today and I saw two huge eagle birds too!

Herman the German Cake....a gift from a friend....Mk 2 is brewing nicely. It's a sour dough mix and takes 10 days to ...mature. Really nice when done as you mix in apple, raisins and cinnamon. Fab.

That's about all for now folks....

Spring....

...Chickens!

Greetings!

Well not much happening in general but great to report almost a whole dry week. Hardly blazing sunshine - overcast and cold - but it's a  start!. And  Eve is home for the weekend .

On the chicken front we are forging ahead...at least Pip is as it seems he has done most of the work. But I am chief supplier of goods - hen shed / appartment and fencing so I don't feel too guilty.

Did a little light bamboo cropping with the intention of selling a bit but the man wants to use it for some shower screen for a client....sounds all a bit far fetched myself so he's taken some to show his client. We shall wait and see. He seems keen though.

Farmers are forging ahead with the spud planting. Very late for Jersey but I suppose it's the same everywhere...hopefully. No spuds this year for me...don't want to be disappointed again.

Raided the old Colombier at dad's ...dont tell...and got me two great hoe / mattock things. One has  a small pick and spade  type end and the other has a small circular blade and a two prong fork. Brill.

Well well...been quite busy after all! and a day on the van at the Horses tomorrow. Joy.

Keep on.......
