Grand Day

Greetings.

Well it's been an interesting day. Steve gave me a hand to collect some pallets but Steve's van became not very well and we had to use the Jaloppy. Good ole Jaloppy! The idea is to go into kindling wood production or as I like to call it Bob's Boxwood. You know...getting something for free and making a turn out of it using nothing but time and effort....oh yes that's it.....work.  And quite successful we are at it. After a somewhat basic start...using a hammer and nail bar we soon decided that Power tools are the best thing. With a bit of chopping and sawing and then a bit of hand axing (that's fun!) we managed to make a bin full. There's a bit of by product..all the bits with nails in but its a small price to pay. A bag full of boxwood is £3.80 in the shops and thats about three big double hands full!  I don't see me retiring on it but if I can make a few quid it'll go to the 'lotment expences and every littly helps to balance the books....which gives me an idea to keep a little black book of accounts. Watch this space! The afternoon came to a fairly abrupt halt when there was an enormous clap of thunder a flash of lightening and  a spot or two of rain but wierdly not that much.

Anyway it was an excuse to go home for the main event of today....The Grand National. The usual flurry of picking several horses with made up names and ten minutes of mad shouting....quite exciting really and our nag led from the start ....only to be overtaken two jumps from home. Darn it! Oh well...next year Rodney.

Looking forward to tomorrow to do some more chopping and to catch up on t'lotment.

Abetot for now as we say in Jerri.
